Field Trip meeting at Mother Earth Brew Co. at 2055 Thibodo Rd., Suite H. in Vista. Thanks to Kamron and his family for making us feel so welcome with chairs tables and beer.
We had several new guests. There were at least 20 people.
Thanks to Mike McCague and his wife for holding the annual Barley Literate Bar-b-que. Mike had a huge partially covered patio and backyard so there was plenty of room. The Carne Asada and Pollo Asada from Specialty Meats in Escondido grilled up tender and tasty. There were lots of side dishes to go with Mike’s tasty “surprise” serrano pepper salsa. You’ll have to ask Mike about the “surprise”.
Mother Earth Brew Co. has invited the Barley Literates to participate in National Organic Brewing Challenge in Santa Cruz, Ca. on October 10-12 this year. Dan will provide the organic ingredients access to his equipment and we voted to brew Tab’s Cream Orange Wit (by another name).
A little late but there might still some left of the Mother Earth Brew Co.’s 7/24 release of Primordial IPA. Dan gave us some delicious pre-release tastes.
Dave and Greg reported on the SCHBF committee meeting. For next year each club will have a POC for campsites. Each club will need to show proof of Drink Server” certificate of completion in order to reserve a booth for the fest. The SCHBF reported a 50% increase in 2010 revenue from prior fests! The SCHBF is looking for more volunteers.
