We added 2 more new members to the Barley Literates! Welcome aboard!
Ask A Brewer – Q: What is the best milling consistency for all grain brewing? A: It all depends on what you are brewing. Belgiums are less crushed so it won’t stick in the mash and filter. Yo want to just “bruise” (crack) the grain. There is also a difference between grain size and efficiency of the water rinsing the sugars from inside the grain. A standard 0.049 gap between the rollers is recommended.
Brewing at Stone – Kona Coconut Macadamia Nut Porter – Sorry if I butchered the name Ken. Status: Stone was told if they are adding another ingredient they must get approval and they will need to brew 100 barrels of the beer.
