March Meeting Minutes (3M or is that MCubed)

Dave Woelke had a report on the upcoming CHA rally at Lake Casitas. The cost goes up as the event draws nearer. We have three members who will be going to the fest. (Chris, Tab and Brad). They will be sampling other brews as we are not going as a club.

We discussed the AHA Rally entries. Tab, Brad and Ken had entries.

We had 10 members who are up to date on the club dues. So those of you who have not re-upped please do so. 

Mike told us about the vacation trip to Mexico, Matt told us of his trips to Europe and brewery tours that he and his wife have made and he brought back a few samples for the raffle.

Ask a Brewer:
Is it too late to grow hop rhizomes? The answer was NO.
You can get hop rhizomes at Hop Union and other home brew suppliers.
Best for this area would probably be Cascade. Use lots of compost.

What size of brew pot do you need for a 10 gallon batch? Answer at least 12 preferably 15 gallon.

Dry Yeast discussion:
Tom uses dry yeast for his meads and wine. Mike and Paul have been using it lately and it is very active so use a blow-off tube. You don’t need to do a starter.

We might try to get Tab to have a brew session where he shows us how he brews and the use of bags for fermentation.
