Ask a Brewer – Q: How much fruit should I add to get the nose of raspberry, apricot, and blueberry and when should I put it in? A: It is best to put it in secondary about 4-5 lbs. The sugar from the fruit will kick everything in again for about a day and then it will settle down. Secondary will give more aroma than primary.

Stone Brewing Co. website shows they are hosting the AHA membership rally on March 21st. Hey, I know that guy in the Stone calendar, it’s Tab. Yes, they will be hosting another homebrewer’s taste-off. Each club will bring their best 2 brews for judging (sorry no sours or long aging). Stone will produce the winner’s brew to be served at Stone! See the website for more details, too many to list here. In preparation for the AHA event all members who would like to represent the Barley Literates with their beer can come to a special meeting at Stone Brewing on March 4th at 6:30 p.m. Bring 2 six packs of 12 oz bottles and will select a representative.
Beer, rockin’ and camping in the desert on Saturday, March 28th. Mark has invited the club to come out to his place in Borrego Springs for beer, rockin’ and camping. We will do a potluck on Saturday night. It is a 2 bedroom with sofa sleeper in the living room, full hook-up for one and electrical/water hook-up for 2 others in the yard. There is room to pitch tents in the backyard. Keep a look-out for more details.
